The Operational Research Society
The OR Society is the professional home of the operational research and analytics community with 3,100 members in 60 countries. OR practitioners are people trained and experienced in finding effective approaches to real-world problems by using maths and science. Originally founded as the Operational Research Club in 1948, The OR Society promotes the understanding and use of operational research in all areas of life, including industry, business, government, health, and education. The society is a registered charity which offers OR learning, encourages students to engage with STEM subjects, and facilitates pro bono consultancy services. See more at www.theorsociety.com.
The General Algebraic Modeling System (GAMS) is a high-level modeling system for mathematical programming and optimization. It consists of a language compiler and a stable of integrated high-performance solvers. GAMS is tailored for complex, large scale modeling applications, and allows you to build large maintainable models that can be adapted quickly to new situations. GAMS is specifically designed for modeling linear, nonlinear and mixed integer optimization problems. See more at www.gams.com.
WORHP, also referred to as eNLP (European NLP solver) by ESA, is a mathematical software library for solving continuous large-scale nonlinear optimisation problems numerically. The acronym WORHP stands for “We Optimize Really Huge Problems”, its primary intended application. WORHP is freely available for academic users and developed at the Steinbeis-Forschungszentrum Optimierung, Steuerung und Regelung. See more at www.worhp.de.
Satalia are thought-leaders in artificial intelligence, data-science, and descriptive, predictive, prescriptive and business analytics. We have deep expertise in supply chain and logistics having created a number of solutions for some of the world’s largest companies. As well as advisory services we scope, prototype, pilot and integrate data-driven decision making solutions. We help organisations find complex business insights, build adaptive models and operationalise actionable solutions to maximise real value. See more at www.satalia.com.
NATCOR: A National Taught Course Cente in Operational Research
NATCOR is a collaboration between twelve universities to develop and deliver taught courses in Operational Research to PhD students. NATCOR will be running a five day course in Heuristics & Approximation Algorithms at the University of Nottingham the week after the conference (starting 9th April).
The University of Nottingham
The University of Nottingham is a stunning and very well respected university located in the east midlands of the UK as well as China and Malaysia. Alongside its excellent facilities and convenient location, the university has an excellent reputation for research and training in operational research, computer science and many related disciplines.
